The Municipality of Aanya will take part in the
Opening Seminar of the project “Governance
Empowerment Mediterranean Model (G.E.M.M.)”, funded
in the framework of the MED PACT Programme of the
European Commission, which will take place on the
15th and 16th of May in Sassuolo, Italy.
The overall objective of the G.E.M.M. project is the
enhancement of the intercultural dialogue and mutual
understanding among the civil societies of the
Mediterranean South and North sides, in line with
the Barcelona Process. The project partnership is
made up of 18 local authorities/organisation
representing local authorities coming from Italy,
Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Turkey. The
Project Leader is the Municipality of Sassuolo,
Italy.
Specifically, the project aims at the improvement of
the capacities of civil servants of MEDA
municipalities for local governance and sustainable
urban development, through the sharing with the
Italian local authorities of best practices in the
fields, in particular, of sustainable mobility,
valorisation of cultural heritage for the purpose of
sustainable tourism and economic recovery, matching
of demand and supply of skills in the labour market
with special attention to the integration of
disadvantaged groups of the population.
Moreover, the project intends to create a
South-South and North-South lasting network of
twinned municipalities coming from the 10 MEDA, in
order to achieve the widest diffusion possible of
local governance best practices, the tools and
methodologies implemented and the project results. |
