Built in period of Alaeddin Keyqubad I, harbor walls form
its gorgeous profile by its monumental structures such as Red Tower, shipyard
and cannon house and harbor region of Alanya Castle from the sea side. As a
port city, since ancient times and especially its hey-days in the Middle Ages,
Alanya was considered among busy ports of the eastern Mediterranean basin and
hosted merchants of Egypt, Genoese and Venetian. Hundreds of ship graffiti from
different eras, which can be seen on walls of various buildings of Alanya
Castle, witness connection of Alanya with its sea.
